This session will help prepare participants to use the active learning pedagogy, and specifically The Threshold Of Democracy Athens in 403 B.C. online. We will discuss how best to use the game in virtual classes, how to translate game mechanics online, and highlight key considerations for both synchronous and asynchronous platforms (including slack and video conferencing). Reacting founder and game author Mark Carnes will lead the discussion and answer questions. For those unfamiliar with the Athens game in any format, there is an additional (optional) session before to introduce the game and its themes.
